Within the Project " Support to the establishment of Regional Waste Management Centers in North-West Croatia and Eastern Slavonia", study tour to Poland was organised in Sep 23-29, 2007.
Study tour involved the visits to Regional Waste Management Center "Eko Dolina", waste management facility Gdańsk - Szadółki, Regional Fund for Enviornmental Protection and Waters Primorje County, Ministry of Environmental protection - Waste management department, Warsaw and Regional Waste Management Center Malopoljska County, Radom.
Study tour was attended by 20 representatives of communal companies of North-West Croatia and Eastern Slavonia, as well as representatives of counties, local governments, Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency Fund, Ministry of Enviornmental Protection, Physicall Planning and Construction, and main project beneficiaries - public institutions JUSZH and ZOIS.
On Feb 25 -26 2008. in Koprivnica in the People's Open University, and within the Project " Support to the establishment of Regional Waste Management Centers in North-West Croatia and Eastern Slavonia ", 2-day workshop was held for representatives of communal companies, local and county governments of North-West Croatia.
Similar event was held on Feb 28-29, 2008 in Vukovar and Osijek, in Croatian Chamber of Commerce for representatives of interested stakeholders of Eastern Slavonia.
Lectures of the first day represented findings and recommendations of the Project, the institutional framework for waste management in Croatia, concept of waste management on the regional level, strategy and waste management plans and national and international financing options.
The second day was attributed to waste management costs, optimization of transport, and collection of fees, and importance of public awareness in waste management.
In cooperation with public institutions for waste management in North-West Croatia and Eastern Slavonia, RECu organized the final conference on June 30, 2008 in Zagreb under the topic "Support to the Establishment of Regional Waste Management Centers in Croatia".
The conference was organized with the aim of informing and educating representatives of counties, towns and government bodies, civil society and communal companies, about the concept of waste management centers, and providing guidelines and recommendations for establishment of integral waste management system in Croatia, as findings of the Project.
The conference was attended by 80 representatives of interested stakeholders and media press conference was held for TV, radio and magazines.
