NETWORK OF LOCAL ACTORS FROM THE SAVA RIVER BASIN ON WATER RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

In collaboration with OSCE, the REC will endeavour to develop and mobilise the networking and liaising among local communities, civil society organisations and other interested stakeholders from three Sava countries (Croatia, Bosnia&Herzegovina and Serbia).

 The project is a logical continuation of the OSCE activities on enabling discussions on the issue of water resource management of the Sava river basin, open for participation of various local stakeholders. The three national workshops have brought together the different stakeholders in order to share their knowledge on best practices and identified common ground for co-operation, ending with a Regional workshop to be held on 11-12 September in Donja Stubica, Croatia.

Project Goal

The Project objective is to further develop the networking among local actors from the Sava river basin on water resource management to promote information exchange and collaboration.

Objectives

1.    Facilitation and promotion of substantive communication and cooperation within the Sava river basin network that is expected to be established, and between this network and the Sava Commission

2.    Promoting the ideas of sustainable water resource management of the Sava river basin in the respective countries (Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro) going beyond the current members of the network

3.   Provision of proposals and ideas of how to manage the network more efficiently and, thus, render the network more powerful (self-monitoring).

4.  Expansion of the network of stakeholders to include other relevant topics to the Sava Commission such as International Transport, Trans-border Economic Development, Civil Protection Co-ordination.
