The REC assists environmental non-governmental organizations (NGOs), governments, businesses, and other environmental stakeholders to fulfil their role in a democratic, sustainable society.

Local Grants Program
Local Grants Program consists of giving financial support for local environmental NGOs. Calls for tender are announced as a part of the REC special projects. As a part of one project local grants up to 3,000 EUR can be awarded for an NGO. From 1996 - 2001 the REC CO Croatia has supported more than 120 environmental NGOs projects.


Information Services
Environmental information dissemination activities are quarterly local language newsletter "The Bulletin", CO library and e-mail list.
  • The main purpose of the newsletter "The Bulletin" is to inform all the REC constituents about the REC services and important issues related to the environment in Croatia and CEE region. It is produced in Croatian and disseminated free of charge to more than 500 addresses of NGOs, individuals, businesses, authorities (local and national), journalists and other stakeholders.
  • REC Croatia's library holds more than 550 environmental publications (reference books, conference reports, statistical collections, educational materials, periodicals etc.).
  • E-mail list consists of 300 e-mail addresses: NGOs, individuals and others who are interested in environmental events, actions, calls for tender and other interesting information.

Project Management
The Country Office Croatia actively participates in projects that originate from and are set up by the REC Headquarters, based on the CO capacity and availability. Currently the CO is involved in the implementation of 20 REReP projects, and other Head Office projects.

The projects are implemented by the CO through supplying information on project status, constant communication with focal points from the Ministry of Environment, carrying out research, arranging meetings, organizing trainings and workshops, managing logistical support, networking the local expertise, managing contacts with local stakeholders, and in many other ways.
